It causes no pain except perhaps a headache in a small percentage of people, and it even often feels good, kind of like a caffeine high. But, beneath the surface, this high pressure within your maze of arteries is wreaking havoc. This goes on silently for years, perhaps, before the end result becomes obvious - usually in the form of a stroke, heart attack, or kidney failure, or even the dreaded loss of cognitive function that makes us dependent upon others for our daily rituals.
How common is this silent killer, this devious robber of life? Well, currently about 70 million Americans have it, and a huge number have "pre-hypertension," just on the cusp waiting for the next nudge to push them into the ever-growing mass with a full-blown disease. This is a huge problem!
It goes hand in hand with diabetes, and they both seem to be common products of the overweight/obesity epidemic. There are simple ways to prevent this, but you have to know the methods to acquire results.
The problem, obvious from these extreme numbers, is that when you are told of your problem, or near problem, you are lucky if you get a five-minute education about it. You're on your own and you can't rely on an internet education for something that can devastate your very life.
